Case #20-24: Pennsylvania Historical Society, Philadelphia, PA

This building has a long history of being haunted.  Many of the employees have experienced supernatural events while working here.  There is the spectral typewriter that was heard typing away until the door of the room was opened.  The elevators run by themselves.  Machines run without being plugged in. There have been numerous sensations of being watched reported by the staff.  There have also been many apparitions.  Some of the staff has researched the haunting and they believe they know the identity of one of the ghost, Albert.  He was a employee there in the late 1800's and the building still contains his diaries and other writings.  Many of the events occur where his office used to be.

Excerpts From Field Reports:

Investigator Boulton:
"....6:51p Positive Orb Picture 4, Boulton, 3rd Floor Hallway.
6:56p Elevator door opened by itself, 3rd Floor.
7:00p Unknown sounds coming from down the hallway from the bookcase, 3rd
Floor.
7:01p Positive Orb Picture 5, Boulton, 3rd Floor Hallway......."

Investigator Lagani:
"..... When I walked down the the third aisle from the end I sensed a large male presence. I felt he was angry and walked through the aisles frequently, walking with a sense of urgency and concern.  At this point I positioned myself at the far end of the room in front of the last aisle of books. I sat there and tried to zone in on the energy in the area.   The following is what I came up with.  Albert was a man who was fascinated with spiritual teachings,  I  also felt he was drawn to the ancient powers of Egypt.  He was a member of a secret organization or club.  Possibly connected with his search for control and power.  I felt he was a driven man, feeling knowledge was power.  There was also his love of elegance and opulence.  This was a problem since I felt it may have created debt for him...."
SJGR Note:  Many of these things were later confirmed by the staff.

Investigator Wilkins:
"...... i thought i smelled smoke, upon the elevator doors opening on the 3rd floor, and upon getting out of the elevator on the 4th floor. I asked if there was smoking allowed in the building and they said no.......Later in the evening, ...Leslie thought she smelled smoke too."

Investigator Juliano:
"...7:29pm - I sensed some one else near me in front of the book cases which would have been where Albert's Desk was.  I started check for EMF and got a 2.0mg reading from the middle of the third shelf.  I was unable to find a natural source for this reading.  I also took a positive photo in the area"
